Nest in damp or damaged wood.
These ants are called “acrobat ants” due to the fact that they can raise their abdomen over their thorax and head. They do this when feeling bothered or alarmed. Although they have the ability to sting, they are not dangerous to mammals or structures.

Reduced acrobat ant sightings and protect your home's structure with our specialized service.
Acrobat ants typically live in nests that reside in cold, wet conditions. Indoors, wet basements are where they typically can be found. Outdoors, they like to live in trees that are dead, or have decaying wood. Otherwise, these ants can be found in the gaps of foundation and/or around wiring and pipes.
Acrobat ants do very minimal damage to wood, but the most of the issue is the nuisance that these ants bring. A sign that you have damage includes piles of debris that the ants gather.
Since these ants prefer living in wood that is already decaying, we recommend trimming trees or branches that seem to be decaying, as these are where the nests are most likely to exist. First, we will find the colony and treat that area. Second, we will spray trails and entry points around the home, so it is less likely they will exist in your house.
