As pavement ants are quite small in size, the big identifier of a pavement ant infestation includes a dark area that when getting closer to, you will realize there are hundreds of pavement ants swarmed together. Outdoors, they build outdoor nests around cracks of pavement, and inside they commonly nest in walls or under flooring.
